This program aims to secure competitive & reliable supply of NG for local industry to support its growth.
In the short term, NG pipeline capacity restrains RAK Gas from supplying more NG to key industrial customers. An important project is therefore to develop a new NG pipeline that would nearly double supply capacity. This would allow existing consumers to use NG instead of coal.
In the long term, additional efforts are needed to further augment NG supply to support existing and new industries. These include local E&P already underway, as well as additional possibilities such as new import agreements and LNG facilities. NG demand is expected to reduce in the long-term as it is gradually replaced by hydrogen and other low-carbon technologies.
Efficiency of NG consumption is an important lever to maintain availability and competitive pricing. RAK Gas along with Reem will develop initiatives for equipment and process upgrades to ensure efficient use of NG in Ras Al Khaimah.
