This program aims to build capabilities to monitor and reduce littering and soil pollution and improve soil quality in Ras Al Khaimah.
EPDA will develop a system to measure quantitative, qualitative, spatial and temporal patterns of soil resources in RAK and define management and regulatory tools required to ensure long-term sustainability of these resources and eliminate urban/coastal littering and dumping of waste.
As part of the environmental strategy exercise that EPDA will begin in 2024, development and implementation of fit-for-purpose regulations will also be considered, along with efficient enforcement methods to reduce pollution levels in Ras Al Khaimah, in collaboration with PSD. Insights from monitoring will be used to implement targeted measures to reduce littering and waste dumping where needed.
