Ras Al Khaimah Municipality reveals significant progress in energy efficiency with the issuance of the First Annual Report on the progress of the Energy Efficiency & Renewables Strategy 2040 at WETEX 2019

​​The annual report shows a climate of collaboration, transparency and accountability supporting implementation of Ras Al Khaimah strategy for energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, ​October 21, 2019: Ras Al Khaimah Municipality released a progress report on the implementation of Ras Al Khaimah Energy Efficiency & Renewables Strategy 2040.

The report was revealed as part of a presentation at WETEX (the annual water, energy, technology and environment exhibition in Dubai, organised by DEWA) by Mr. Andrea Di Gregorio, Director of the Energy Efficiency & Renewables Office (Reem) of the Municipality.

Notable developments were highlighted in the field of energy efficiency in the past year, including among others the issuance of Barjeel, the green building regulations of Ras Al Khaimah addressing new buildings, the activation of a retrofit program addressing over 3,000 existing buildings, the set up of a program for the promotion of efficient vehicles, and incentive measures to support the development of a local market for energy efficiency products and services.

His Excellency Munther Mohammed bin Shekar, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, said: “Ras Al Khaimah Government considers energy efficiency and adoption of renewable energy as important drivers for the competitiveness and sustainability of our economy. With our Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Strategy 2040 launched in 2018, we have already made significant progress towards improving the sustainability of Ras Al Khaimah. The launch of our first annual report on the progress of the strategy is part of our efforts for wider government, private sector, and consumer awareness of our initiatives, and confirms our transparent approach in providing government services.”
