The programme supports the large-scale development of Ras Al Khaimah’s renewables resources to deliver clean, low-cost electricity for use in Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE.
RAK Municipality leads technical studies and coordinates discussions with federal entities to enable utility-scale renewables and storage projects. Land assessments have beencompleted for upcoming solar projects, while ongoing studies are exploring wind energy and pumped-storage hydro potential in the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah.
Additional options such as energy storage and weather-independent sources like geothermal energy are also being explored to mitigate the intermittency of solar and wind.
