This programme aims to decarbonise agricultural activities in Ras Al Khaimah through mandates for fertilisers and livestock consumables, and by promoting regenerative agricultural practices.
Emissions reduction in agriculture are expected from 3 key drivers:
Improvements in equipment and operational processes
Use of clean electricity (renewables)
Adoption of low-carbon agricultural practices and products (e.g. regenerative agriculture, efficient fertiliser use, dietary supplements for livestock)
Currently monitoring systems for the agricultural sector are being strengthened to better understand key parameters. A broader agricultural strategy and regulatory framework will be developed to guide data collection, and enable the design and implementation of targeted effective emissions reduction measures.
